Michel Scholte is building an economy where real value counts.

Michel Scholte, Minister of the New Economy

In 2012, Michel cofounded True Price with Adrian de Groot Ruiz, an organization that calculates the true price of products, including social and environmental costs. This was followed in 2018 by Impact Institute, where, as CCO and co-owner, he is responsible for, among other things, the AI-driven software Impatec, used by impact investors such as Invest-NL and ABN AMRO SIF.

In January 2021, Michel was elected Minister of the New Economy by MVO Nederland. He has worked with organizations such as Albert Heijn, ABN AMRO, and the United Nations, and is a cofounder of the Impact Economy Foundation.

Drawing on his experience with sustainability and resilience, he developed the concept of Resilient Protection. With Resilt, he launched a data and software platform that increases the preparedness and resilience of households and businesses: from Resource to Wesource.

Michel holds an MSc in Sociology from VU University Amsterdam, specializing in social research and agent-based modeling of complex systems. He is an alumnus of the World Economic Forum Global Shapers network and a member of the think tank Worldconnectors.
